The Great Waddle of Worcester

Join in with the Great Worcester Waddle 2024 - paint your own penguin
Wild in Art has opened submissions for their Great Worcester Waddle event. Artists of any skill from the Worcestershire area are invited to design their own penguin using the provided base and submit it through The Great Waddle’s website for a chance to have their creations brought to life.

Successful artists will be commissioned £900 across two installments and will be provided with the penguin statue and finishing varnish at no cost. The penguins themselves will be available to decorate in a dedicated studio within Worcester between March and May 2024.

The finished statues will be placed on display Summer 2024 throughout Worcester city, and once the waddle has completed its parade, each of the statues will be auctioned off to raise money for St. Richard’s Hospice. This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved with the local community through the medium of art, adding some fun and vibrance to the streets of Worcester next Summer – while also raising money for a great cause.

More crafty? That’s fine! Wild in Art are also looking for donations of knitted and crocheted penguin plushies that will be sold as a part of the event. Their website has multiple free patterns to inspire you, and you can drop the finished penguins off at any of their hospice shops.

Submissions for the statue designs are open until Monday 8th January 2024.
