Artist talk by Andy Holden
8 February 2021 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm
FreeOften concerned with our relationship to the past and how we make sense of ourselves, his work tackles history, nostalgia, and philosophical enquiry. Although the themes of his work are profound, Holden uses familiar lo-fi forms to express them. Cartoon characters, beer bottles covered in plaster, charity shop finds, and knitted sculptures all feature in his work. The ability to evoke both the burdens of existence and a childlike appreciation of the world around us defines Holden’s unique approach to how an artist should go about their practice.
There is a brand new format for the sixth season of contemporary artists’ talks, presented via a partnership between the University of Worcester’s Fine Art department and Meadow Arts. We’re still working with some of the most exciting contemporary artists currently making work in the UK, who will be talking about their artwork, ideas and the processes they use, in online talks. Please book a place so that we can send you the link to join in on Zoom. Talks are free, but you can support the work of our charity by choosing to make a donation.
