Before completing a first-class degree in Game Art at De Montfort University, Hazel Brown attended a Games Design Course at a local college, where she was taught by Lead Game Designer and Artist Zara Sharma, now a senior Game Art lecturer at the University of Worcester. Upon graduation Hazel Brown was offered a character artist position at Deep Silver Dambuster Studios in Nottingham, where she created characters for the game, Dead Island 2, released in 2023. Hazel’s career progressed very positively, and she is currently working as a 3D Hair Artist for Roarty Digital, a successful art studio focused on 3D characters, virtual humans, hair, rigging and digital art assets for games, VR, film, cinematics and advertising. Hazel has a passion for sharing her knowledge and has created many online tutorials on ArtStation: https://www.artstation.com/hazelbrown
Her latest real time hair tutorial is also available for free on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@HazelBrownArt
Hazel recently took part in an event for BAFTA as a speaker in a panel discussing hair and accurate representation in games. She also greatly enjoys delivering Industry Talks for various colleges and Universities. This is a great opportunity for our students to dive into Hazel’s journey as an artist in the game industry.
