Summer Exhibition – Rob Draper

Summer 2024 the The Art House on Castle Street was taken over by local artist Rob Draper...

The exhibition was aimed at anyone with a curiosity in art, design, or creativity. Through documenting his work and processes, Rob has amassed a large following through Instagram across the globe so this will be a chance for fans of his work for the first time ever to see it in the flesh.

Rob Draper has played an important role at the University in recent months, leading a team of students in the planning, design, and execution of a 55-metre mural at Severn Campus on the walkway between Hardwicke Close and Hylton Road in the city.

Rob said:

“I have been working with the University since late last year and the staff and students are great to work with so it felt like a natural fit when I was asked if I would be interested in a show.”

He continued: “The energy and creativity I have got from the staff and students have taken me right back to how I felt as an art student many years ago, and the vast space at The Art House really allows us to play and experiment with the space and it will hopefully make for a distinctive show.”

Experience the evolution of Rob’s extensive career, from elaborate lettering on disposable coffee cups to being the scenes sketches for prestigious commissioned projects for The Golden Globes, Nike, NASA JPL and more. This installation seamlessly integrates a kaleidoscope of themes, styles, messages and narratives highlighting his signature, distinctive hand-rendered processes.

At the heart of the exhibition lies a faithful recreation of Rob’s creative studio. Step into his world, furnished with authentic furniture, materials and tools directly from his studio. Guided by his creative principles, you are invited to immerse yourself in this imaginative realm and experience firsthand the essence of Rob’s trademark process and aesthetic.
