Ideas and tips on what you can present on:
You can do a talk, a presentation, a monologue, or spoken word (5 minutes in duration).
Present on any topic of your choice (it does not have to relate to your degree subject).
Your presentation for each round has to be different.
Examples of topics which students presented on in public speaking competition in previous years:
Prizes for students who come 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
1st place prize is a £25 Amazon gift card.
Develop your public speaking and presentation skills.
Enhance your CV and employability prospects.
How does the competition work?
Round 1: every contestant will do a 5-minute presentation/ talk/ monologue/ or spoken word on any topic of their choice.
Round 2 (final): the finalists will compete in round 2 and each do a 5-minute presentation/ talk/ monologue/ or spoken word on any topic. Winners will be announced at the end of this round.
We have public speaking club sessions running every Wednesday, 3:15-4:15pm in room JL1005 (first floor, Jenny Lind Building, City Campus).
Come along to one of these sessions to develop your public speaking. You will have an opportunity to practice your competition presentations in these sessions if you wish to do so, as well as receive feedback on your presentation before the competition
