Emma and Liibaan were both Highly Commended – Emma in the photography category and Liibaan for his TV documentary.
Rachel Ammonds, Course Leader of Journalism at the University of Worcester, said: “We are absolutely delighted that our students’ hard work and talent have been recognised in this way and we’re so proud of all those shortlisted.
“They received nominations in five categories – broadcasting, features, news, photography and digital journalist – showcasing the wide range of skills and learning that make up the Journalism course.”
The Awards, organised by Birmingham Press Club, aim to recognise the talents of the Midlands’ next generation of journalists, broadcasters, photographers and rising stars of social media and photography talent and attracted entries from universities and colleges across the East and West Midlands.
Birmingham Press Club chairman, Llewela Bailey, said: “The Awards help to put the spotlight on students who are on the verge of launching their own successful careers.
“The standard of submitted work was particularly outstanding, which is a tribute in itself to the dedication of our region’s university lecturers.”
