"One Team, One Dream."
Joe Whitby makes impression sculptures, which explores his childhood and background through a unique visual narrative. Whitby’s practice explores the association built between an object and a memory. Each block encases his own objects and possessions, creating a rich sentimental tapestry. He casts the negative space of the possessions in resin, producing a series of ghostly fragments preserving and encapsulating his memories and experiences. He uses resin within his work, as the transparency of the material compliments the delicate and intimate aesthetic of a personal memory. His work aims to show how a mundane object can display a narrative, while exploring how an object can hold a space, and what relevance and importance they possess.
